Scams people are reporting
Scam campaigns can change quickly. These are examples of scam themes and tactics worth watching. We’ll continue updating this page as new patterns emerge.
Fake bank fraud alerts
Scammers pose as bank fraud departments and claim there is suspicious activity on your account. The goal is often to obtain login credentials, verification codes, or immediate payment.
Watch for
Requests for one-time passcodes, account passwords, transfers, or pressure to “secure” your money immediately.
Unpaid toll & road fee scams
Fake toll notices claim you owe a small road or bridge fee and threaten additional penalties if you do not pay quickly. These messages often include links to fraudulent payment sites.
Watch for
Unexpected payment links, urgent deadlines, unfamiliar web addresses, or threats of license or registration penalties.
Fake package delivery alerts
Messages impersonating delivery companies claim a package cannot be delivered until you update an address, schedule delivery, or pay a small fee.
Watch for
Unsolicited tracking links, requests for payment, unusual domains, or messages that do not match an order you placed.
IRS & government threat scams
Callers pretend to represent government agencies and threaten arrest, fines, suspended benefits, or other consequences unless payment or personal information is provided.
Watch for
Threats of immediate arrest, demands for gift cards or cryptocurrency, or pressure to pay while staying on the phone.
AI voice & family emergency scams
Scammers may impersonate a family member, coworker, executive, or trusted contact and create an urgent story designed to trigger an emotional response.
Watch for
Unexpected emergency requests, demands for secrecy, urgent money transfers, or a familiar voice paired with an unusual request.
Fake job & recruitment scams
Fraudulent recruiters offer remote jobs, easy income, or fast hiring and then request personal information, upfront fees, purchases, or financial transactions.
Watch for
Interviews conducted only by text, unusually high pay, requests to buy equipment, check deposits, or requests for banking information before legitimate onboarding.
